4th Marzo, Domingo (7:05pm) Reblog ↬Spanish literary blogger José Luis Amores offers his own translation of Gass’ essay “Slices of Life in a Library,” with the author’s permission. This essay, which is part of the new Life Sentences collection, originally appeared in St. Louis Magazine (as “Shelf Life”) in December 2007, when I was editor there. I don’t speak or read Spanish, but scanning Google’s attempt at a translation, it appears Amores notes his gratitude to Gass and SLM and sets up the piece with some background about how he came to be a Gass reader. (Many of the photographs that originally accompanied the piece in St. Louis Magazine can be viewed here. They were taken by and are copyrighted to Frank Di Piazza.)
